Overview
The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Center for Telehealth is proud to be a national Telehealth Center of Excellence. The role of the Center of Excellence is to fill important gaps in the national telehealth landscape through a combination of ongoing regional and national collaborations, as well as proactive dissemination of telehealth resources. MUSC leverages unique qualities as an academic medical center to rigorously research, evaluate, and disseminate telehealth initiatives and promising practices.
The main areas of research focus include:
- Impact on Federal and Local Healthcare Spending
- Pilot and Evaluate Telehealth to Support HIV Prevention and Treatment
- Evaluate and Disseminate Telehealth to Address Behavioral Health (BH) and Substance Use Disorders (SUD)
- Telehealth to Support Rural Hospitals
- Evaluate Direct to Consumer Telehealth Programs

Core Team Introduction
The MUSC COE Core Team is led by Program Directors, Drs. Dee Ford and Katie King, Center for Telehealth Leadership, Dr. Jimmy McElligott and Emily Warr, and administrative team, Ryan Kruis, Elana Wells, Rebecca Verdin, and Samantha D’Orio. Our core team provides leadership and support across all subprojects and leads initiatives focused on building the COE’s national presence through collaborations, technical assistance/consultation, and national presentations and publications.
