Implementation of AI based Scribe to Improve Provider and Patient Engagement for Telehealth Visits

Overview Resources

Project Overview

One of the major barriers to increased utilization of Telehealth visits is the lack of engagement between patients and providers on camera. Our objective is to provide more time for direct interaction/communication between patient and provider by automating the task of documentation using AI based technology. Ambience AutoScribe is a fully automated AI medical scribe that captures the nuances of provider-patient conversation in real-time into a comprehensive note that is embedded into the EMR. Thus providers can close out charts immediately after each visit. We believe this would reduce the time to document and increase the time spent with the patient leading to improved patient and provider satisfaction with Telehealth visits. In this study the Ambience AI scribe will be provided to the Tele Urgent Care team, Tele Behavioral Health team, Geriatric and Family Medicine providers. Random patients will be selected based on appointments scheduled. We will utilize surveys collected from the video platform and data from Ambience obtained from various sources. The survey data will not be disclosed to the providers. We will present the survey results after the study is concluded to preserve objectivity.
