This past week UMMC's COE team, Kyle Brewer, Gregrey Hall, and Saurabh Chandra MD, PhD, MBA had the privilege to attend CME in the Sand, hosted by the Mississippi State Medical Association (MSMA). It was an honor to join the panel discussion on “AI Safety and Ethics in Medicine”.
We explored critical topics including transparency in AI systems, data privacy, bias prevention, ethical frameworks, and how AI is reshaping healthcare delivery, especially through telehealth.
The discussion reinforced a vital message: while artificial intelligence holds great promise for improving patient outcomes and operational efficiency, its integration must be grounded in responsibility, equity, and ethics. As we innovate, we must ensure that patient safety and trust remain at the center of all advancements.
