Ryan Kruis, PhD, MSW, LISW-CP
Director of Grants and Research, Medical University of South Carolina
Mr. Kruis oversees existing external relationships and collaborations resulting from large state and national funding sources including the National Telehealth Center of Excellence. He also directs other core functions within the Center for Telehealth including telehealth data, outcomes, research administration, and education; and the development and pursuit of additional extramural funding opportunities. Mr. Kruis came to MUSC with extensive public health and grants administration experience. At MIT, Mr. Kruis oversaw a community-wide intervention aimed at addressing mental health and suicide on campus. Prior to that, Mr. Kruis served as a Program Director at The Fenway Institute of Fenway Health, where he managed a diverse array of NIH- and HRSA-funded education, training, and clinical research projects focused primarily on substance abuse and HIV prevention and treatment. Mr. Kruis has a BA in English and Religion from Calvin University, an MSW from Grand Valley State University, and a PhD from the Medical University of South Carolina. He is also a licensed clinical social worker in the State of South Carolina.
