Project Overview
According to the National Rural Health Association (NRHA) and GlobalMed.com rural areas have 39.8 physicians per 100,000 people, as opposed to 53.3 physicians per 100,000 in urban areas. Access to specialists is even lower with only 30 specialists per 100,000 residents compared to urban areas that count 263 specialists per 100,000 residents. Telehealth can bridge the gaps in access to specialists for rural hospitals resulting in improved clinical outcomes and financial ROI for rural hospitals.
In this pilot, we will provide technology equipment and support to South Central Regional Medical Center, a small hospital in rural Mississippi to facilitate provision of inpatient Neurology consultations by Remote Neurology team located at UMMC.
We're happy to announce this project went live on January 17, 2023.
