AI Innovations at National Bootcamp

The Telehealth Center of Excellence at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) was invited to present at the California Telehealth Resource Center's Healthcare AI Bootcamp in Los Angeles. The session, “Diving Deeper for Individual Mastery: Opportunity and Risk in Healthcare,” was presented in collaboration with Dr. Ethan Goh, MD from Stanford. This session explored both the potential and challenges of artificial intelligence in healthcare.

During the presentation, UMMC highlighted several groundbreaking projects that are transforming care through AI innovation:

  • AI-based medical scribe technology – Designed to reduce clinician documentation time, improve patient engagement, and help combat provider burnout.

  • AI-assisted fall prevention in virtual nursing – Implemented to prevent injuries, save staff hours, and improve patient safety metrics.

These initiatives demonstrate how UMMC is leveraging AI to advance patient care, enhance operational efficiency, and support provider well-being.
